Position Summary:
Performs data analysis to evaluate the various compliance initiatives and activities of the UNM Health System. Assists in the development and implementation of strategies to identify and mitigate risk in a quickly evolving health care regulatory landscape. Works closely with the UNM Health System Executive Director of Compliance to implement the Compliance Plan generally, with a substantial focus on research and trend analysis, to ensure that all potential compliance matters, including instances of fraud, waste or abuse, are identified, tracked and appropriately reported. Ensures adherence to Hospitals, departmental policies and procedures, and accreditation requirements. No patient care assignment.
Accountability:
  • EXPERTISE – Serves as the Health System Compliance Department subject matter expert in identifying risk areas, recommending projects and performing research and analysis

  • EXPERTISE – Has primary responsibility for monitoring, tracking and reporting monthly and quarterly metrics such as Learning Central and Navex/Hotline statistics and results

  • EDUCATION – Makes recommendations for educational opportunities identified through Compliance Department research and data analysis

  • COORDINATION - Assists in developing system-wide (e.g. Learning Central) or department specific education and training materials

  • COORDINATION - Participates in planning research projects, data analysis and data mining projects. Provides guidance and expertise to other staff who conduct research or data analysis

  • RESEARCH - Actively monitors federal, state and local medical coding and billing literature, updates and websites to identify and address regulatory or statutory changes

  • TECHNOLOGY - Uses technology as required to conduct research and data analysis using internet and intranet resources

  • COMMUNICATION - Participates in Health System committees, meetings and work teams/projects as requested

  • COMMUNICATION – Prepares, distributes and presents summary reports in various formats including written, Power Point, virtual/Zoom, online and in-person

  • Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline

  • Experience Requirements:
  • 3 years directly related experience

  • Physical Demands Requirements:
